I had a wonderful experience at your last auction. I saw and learned about many types of rugs, so that I now know what I like, what goes best with my décor and what I can afford. I see that fine rugs can go anywhere and enhance any décor. Every single rug I bought (I bought 10) looks perfectly at home, so I now have confidence that I won’t make an awful mistake! The only think I would do differently next time is to arrive armed with a few sizes to look out for. I still have room for more!

J.M. Sorkin is a business that is second to none. The owner, Jerry Sorkin, is a class individual who is well respected throughout the Main Line and by all who are acquainted with him. He and his employees are exceptionally courteous, knowledgeable, honest and truly concerned about a positive relationship with their customers and the public in general. I have been to three of Jerry’s auctions and they are truly experiences that I will always treasure. In addition to viewing hundreds of rugs, I learned a great deal about oriental rugs because of Jerry’s expertise in explaining about many of the rugs (their origin, etc). In addition, it was nice to be at an auction that was well organized and surrounded by people who were looking for rugs of quality and at a great price…and in most case a steal!! There are sizes and styles of rugs for all and I would strongly recommend that everyone should attend a J.M. Sorkin auction – even if you do not buy, you will learn a lot more about oriental rugs after you attend – it’s a happening and worth the price of admissions…which is free!

It has been several months since we were at your latest rug auction. I was never tempted to go to an auction prior to your because people discovered what they bought was not original or they “overpaid”. This was not the case at your auction. Not only did we get incredible bargains, but we got the quality and the history behind our purchases.

A J.M. Sorkin is a memorable experience to say the least. It provides not only a fabulous array of the finest rugs, but you receive a rich education about each piece as you go. We were so smitten and the prices were so reasonable that we literally bought a rug for each large room in our former house and a couple of runners besides. We continue to enjoy their beauty and texture in our new home.

I first found Jerry Sorkin – and his place was for me a real find – in 1992, although unfortunately, two rugs too late that I had bought elsewhere. Those rugs were OK and I got a decent price, but they weren’t distinctive and the shopping experience was neither fun nor educational.

Since that time, I’ve bought a number of rugs exclusively from Jerry, as have some other members of my family. Along the way, I’ve learned a lot and developed an instinct for recognizing what I like.

I particularly like going to the Sorkin auctions. They’re honest, fun, educational and you can find something that you really like and grab it at a terrific price.

More broadly, Jerry is an enthusiastic and educated guy, a gentleman and as an outgrowth of his business, does his own little bit for Middle East reconciliation.
